Darkness
I thought I saw a light
And how I needed light
It seemed to smile and beckon
So I followed...
I thought I had a torch
Grasped firmly in my hand
And with it I intended
To ignite a bonfire...
Entrenched in utter blackness
I know the truth;
I never held that torch
I never kissed that flame
I let myself be entombed
By promises enchanted
Now I am left alone
No-- I always was alone.
Until tonight when you
Lit a candle for me.
